Richard E. Ward, 69, 5201 Duckdown Court, Raleigh, departed this life Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Funeral noon Tuesday, July 5, 2016, Lincolnville AME Church, 6400 Chapel Hill Road, Raleigh. The Rev. Harry J. Simpson, pastor, officiating. Interment in historic Oakwood Cemetery.
Survivors are wife, Ruby Ward of the home; daughter, Courtney D. Ward of Greensboro; sons, Steven Goodson of Raleigh and Richard E. Ward II and Robert Ward both of the home; sisters, Ernestine W. Bostic of Goldsboro, Esther W. Saulster (Roosevelt) of Hollywood, Fla., and Hazel W. Wooten of Marietta, Ga.; brothers, Sterling Ward of Goldsboro and James Ward (Linda) of Raleigh; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing noon to 8 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2016, at the funeral home and 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 5, 2016, prior to the funeral at the church.
