BESSIE K. BENTON

Bessie Kivett Benton, 80, Goldsboro, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Bessie was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Alamance County to the late Percy Lee Kivett and Evie Farrington Kivett. She was the wife of the late Jack Bonner Benton.

Bessie's most significant role in life and what she did best was being a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and will be dearly missed.

Bessie loved singing with her husband, and was an avid bowler in her younger years.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery of LaGrange.

Bessie is survived by her daughter, Vonne Smith; son, Alan Ray Benton "Lynn Holloman"; four grandchildren, Christopher Lyerly, Tyler Benton, Lyndsey Bass "Roby" and Alex Ray Benton "Bryan Leonard"; three stepgrandchildren, Ryan Newsome, Travis Creech and Phillip Lee "Kaycee"; four siblings, Clara Lee Evans, Jack Kivett "Margaret," Dorothy Blalock and Larry Kivett; along with a number of special nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Benton home and Saturday following the graveside service.
