ALAN S. PLUMMER

March 30, 1953-May 9, 2016

Alan Saidla Plummer, 63, Goldsboro, left this world to be with Jesus Monday evening at home while surrounded by his family.

Alan was a beloved husband, father and friend, whose love for life and others was apparent to all who met him.

Alan was born in Goldsboro March 30, 1953, to the late Dr. William Evander Plummer Sr. and Mary Saidla Plummer.

He lived in Goldsboro his entire life, and was a graduate of Goldsboro High School. Alan was also a graduate of Emmanuel College in Georgia, where he received a degree in business administration.

He was employed with Ram Rent All of Goldsboro, where he worked passionately to advance the business as store manager.

Alan will be remembered for his outgoing and friendly personality, who cared deeply for his family, friends and co-workers.

Alan was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church. He loved his church family, and provided beautiful music, a talent he shared with many.

Alan was also a charter member of III Century Singers.

Horses were always a big part of Alan's life, and he, along with his wife, shared that love together for more than 45 years. Because of his love for horses, Alan was a life member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and was a key player in forming the Carolina Mid-East Horseman Association.

Alan lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community.

Alan was honored as a Wayne County Hero with the American Red Cross. He was also a participant with the Horse "N" Around for a Cure Team to benefit Relay for Life.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Alan's life at 7 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Terry Hobbs officiating. The family will also greet friends at the funeral home following the service.

Interment will conclude the services Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Alan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Whitfield Plummer; sons, Jason Plummer and Blake Plummer; sister, Lee Templeton and husband, George, and brothers, Bill Plummer and wife, Rose and Mark Plummer.

He is also survived by some very special young ladies, Mary Sullivan, Kayla Mozingo, Shelby Jernigan and Kate Mercer Leahy; special friend, Clift McCall, whom Alan consider a brother in love, and was more than someone he worked with; and special friend, Norwood Gainey, who was always there for Alan, and whom he considered his lifetime special friend.
