KATHY SUMMERLIN DAVIS

Sept. 12, 1951-April 7, 2016

Kathy Elaine Summerlin Davis, 64, Hines, Ore., resident, passed away at home Thursday, April 7, 2016.

She was born in Wayne County, N.C., Sept. 12, 1951, to the late Harvey and Effie Register Summerlin.

She was a graduate of Southern Wayne High School, and was formerly employed at Young Squire in Mount Olive as a switchboard operator.

Although Kathy had been a resident in Hines, Ore., for most of her adult life, she was a "Carolina" girl with an ongoing rivalry with her North Carolina State family.

Kathy is survived by three sons, Jefferson Earl "Jed" Davis and wife, Carolyn, Travis Wane Davis and wife, Teresa, and Trevor Lane Davis.

She was the proud grandmother of Makenzie Davis, Kyra Davis and Sienna Davis.

She was the "favorite" sister of Sally S. Barnett and husband, Jay, Shelby S. Blizzard and husband, Donald, and Donnie S. Moore and husband, Thomas, as well as a loving sister to her brothers, Harvey Ray Summerlin and wife, Barbara, Jimmy Summerlin and wife, Kathy, and Johnny Summerlin and wife, Belinda.

Another "favorite" sister, Linda S. Carter, preceded her in death, as did two brothers, Ronnie Summerlin and Linwood Earl "Tunk" Summerlin.

Kathy had numerous nephews, nieces and friends, all of whom were special in her life.

She had a giving heart, and loved helping the sick and elderly.

Her favorite pastimes were reading, playing card games, drinking coffee and visiting with family and friends.

Kathy's goal in life was to raise her boys and enjoy them. She took pleasure in going to their sports activities and being a "Mom" to their friends, and this gesture passed on down to her grandchildren, as she loved camping out and attending games and cheering for the girls. She was quick to remark that time spent with family was time well spent.

Visitation for family and friends will Saturday, April 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and will continue afterward at the Summerlin family homeplace near Seven Springs.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held May 7 in Oregon.
