John Bunyon Faulk Jr., 89, Beautancus community, Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday morning, April 12, surrounded by his family, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Known to many as simply "B," he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Reaves Faulk; his two daughters, Faye Best of Rosewood and Becky Lancaster and her husband, Danny, of Mount Olive; a son, John B. Faulk III of Sylva, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Derrick Best and his wife, Erin, John Paul "J.P." Best, Candice Lancaster and Jason Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Faulk Sr. and Janie Swinson Faulk, and his siblings, Sula F. Bunch, Madge F. Taylor, Braxton Faulk, Walter "Tup" Faulk, Wayne "Bick" Faulk and Ernest Faulk.

"B" was a longtime member of Bear Marsh Baptist Church, and the Beautancus Sportsman's club, as well as having served his country through the United States Navy.

Mr. Faulk was a lifelong farmer.

A service to celebrate and remember "B" will be held Thursday, April 14, at 7 o'clock in the evening in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose, followed by a visitation with the family. Burial will be held Friday, April 15, 11 o'clock in the morning at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
