KERNARD DAWSON SR.

Kernard Dawson Sr. was born to the late Charles Hope and Susie Anna Dawson Jan. 20, 1950, in Wayne County, Goldsboro, N.C.
Kernard attended Dillard High School in 1968, and entered the United States Army.
Dec. 17, 1969, he married Annie Lee Cox of Goldsboro, N.C.
After his discharge from the military, he was employed at Dorthea Dix in Raleigh, N.C. He later worked for the Department of Transportation until he resigned and moved to Fayetteville, N.C. There he was employed at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
Kernard departed this life Saturday, April 2, 2016.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories through his children, Kernard Dawson Jr., Kathrine (Varez) Best, Katina (Martin-Luther) Keel and Linwood (Lori) James; his twin brother, Bernard (Annie Doris Dawson) all of Goldsboro; 14 grandchildren, Monique Ferguson, Lafe'chia Gaines, Latifah Gaines, Sha'mika James, Janeva (Rayquan) Seaberry, Devonte Faison, Keona Dawson, Latre'cia Johnson, DaShawn Lattiner, Shakelia Dawson, Kiaira Dawson, Fantazia James, Linwood James Jr. and Keemia Dawson; seven great-grandchildren, Jael Ferguson, Davonte' Gaines-Monroe, Navaeh Hargrove, Lamone Hargrove Jr., Keyziah James, Kaiheem Seaberry and Prince Phillips; two nephews, Rico (Renita) Dawson and Charles (Queliya) Dawson; two special nieces, Ida (Sylmer) Rainey and Charlene Dawson; mother-in-law, Annie Mae Cox; 10 brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; a devoted friend, Mary McLean and her kids, Chester Williams, Kyle William and Teresa Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home.
Funeral will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016, at noon at St. Joseph Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at East Carolina Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at his daughter's home at 102 Dulcet Court, Goldsboro, N.C.
