George Leroy Smith, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home.

George was born in Wood County, Wis., Sept. 15, 1930, to the late Milo R. and Wilhelmina S. Smith.

He was married for 58 years to the late Shirley Rollins Smith.

George served his country in the United States Army, and was a retired plumber.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Johnnie Crawford officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

George is survived by his daughters, Roxanne S. Silva and husband, Dan, of Pikeville and Janice S. Crawford and husband, Johnnie, of Grayson, Ga.; son, Lawrence Smith of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren, Deborah Silva of Loveland, Colo., Hannah Silva of Pikeville and Jason Crawford of Grayson, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Missions to Military Inc. (designate for Goldsboro, N.C.), P.O. Box 6, Norfolk, Va., 23501, or the Anchorage Camp, P.O. Box 126, Lake Waccamaw, N.C., 27540.
