The Rev. William Leslie "The Pool Man" Smith Jr., 68, 503 Chafin Road, died at his residence.
William "Smitty" began life's pilgrimage Monday, Feb. 9, 1948, and completed his journey Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016.
He was the second child born to the late William Leslie Smith Sr. and Mary Lee Manuel in Goldsboro.
Smitty graduated from Dillard High School in 1966. He attended Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C., where he received his Bachelor of Theology degree, and United Christian College of Goldsboro, N.C., where he received his Doctor of Divinity degree.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at Bear Creek Association Headquarters, 1800 S. Slocumb St. Apostle Norbert Simmons will officate, with interment following in First Congregational Church Cemetery.
The repass will be held at First Congregational Church.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Diane Edmundson Smith; his children, Jessica Smith, Tressa S. Bryant and Callie Bryant; one sister, Mary E. Saunders; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, where it will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
