Stephen Emery Cartrette Jr., 50, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening
Steve was born Feb. 12, 1965, in Newport News, Va. to Francis Whitfield and the late Stephen Emery Cartrette. He had a love for life and was a natural born salesman. Steve loved working at Heavenly Homes in Princeton. His sense of humor was known by all who knew him.
Steve was described by a dear friend as "enormously kind, hysterically funny, wholeheartedly generous...just a sweetheart of a man." He never met a stranger and enjoyed conversations and sharing good jokes. Steve will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Bridge Church with Pastor Andy Stovall officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the foyer of the worship auditorium.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Melissa Cole Cartrette; stepfather, Claude Whitfield; grandmother, Glodia Jones; daughter, Jordan Cartrette of the home; sons, Chris and Ryan Cartrette of Chesapeake, Va.; and stepson, Jonathan Cole of the home.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Cartrette; and brother, Jeffrey Cartrette.
