Jesse Earl Mitchell Sr., 79, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at his home. He left this world, with his loving wife, Connie, by his side. Jesse was born in Wayne County on Oct. 3, 1936, to the late Jesse and Georgia Potter Mitchell. He was a retired paint contractor in Goldsboro and had a great love for old cars.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont, N.C. At other times, the family will be at the home of Wendy and Jesse Earl Mitchell Jr., 110 Sedgefield Drive, Goldsboro.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Mitchell, his daughter, Kim Cutway of Mississippi; sons, Terry Mitchell and wife, Paula of Spring Hope, Jesse Earl Mitchell Jr. and wife, Wendy of Goldsboro, and Michael Mitchell and fiancée, Heather of Goldsboro; brother, Arnold Mitchell; sister, Lillie Harper and husband, Jack; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Milton, Grover, Harvey, David and Billy Ray Mitchell; and sisters, Annie Mitchell and Elizabeth Mitchell Aldridge.
