MILDRED FIELDS EDGERTON

Mildred Fields Edgerton, 89, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William Wright and Zilphia Gurley Fields, and the widow of Alvin Earl Edgerton.

Mrs. Edgerton was a retired private duty nurse.

She was a member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting, and was attending Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with George Strickland officiating.

Surviving are her son, Earl Edgerton and wife, Beverly, of Wilmington; daughters, Jessica Forsythe of New York City and Wanda Forsythe of Wilmington; granddaughter, Mercer Sneed; grandson, Michael Forsythe; great-granddaughter, Kylie Forsythe; great-grandson, Kannon Jacobs; brothers, Bobby Fields, Howard Fields and Vernon Fields; and sister-in-law, Nora Lee Edgerton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen McClenny and Hilda Sjostrom, and brother, Harrison Fields.
