LILLIE MAE JOHNSON

July 23, 1920-Aug. 26, 2015

Lillie Mae Crawford Johnson, 95, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Wayne County July 23, 1920, to the late William Mathias Crawford and Polly Lena Pope Crawford.

She was married to Edward Dalma Johnson, who preceded her in death April 11, 1991.

Mrs. Johnson will be remembered by many as an employee of Belk, where she dressed many of the young boys in Goldsboro.

Her warmth, generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she encountered throughout her life.

A longtime member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church, she loved gardening, traveling and her family, especially her grandchildren. Even in her declining health, she found joy in simple pleasures -- visits from family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Crank officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Annette and H.J. Hill of Pikeville, N.C. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Lynn Johnson of Smithfield, Annette Hill and husband, H.J., of Goldsboro and Kathy Quinn and husband, Bo, of Kenansville; grandchildren, Alan Hill, Brent Hill and wife, Sara, Travis Quinn and wife, Amanda, Andrew Quinn and wife, Lindsay, and Adam Quinn; and her great-granddaughter, Kayla Hill.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

The family would like to extend appreciation to Carolyn Best and Jennifer Hicks, who provided care for Mrs. Johnson at home, and who were not only caregivers, but also her special friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Victory Free Will Baptist Church, 1806 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; Southeastern Cancer Care "Cures for the Colors," 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or the charity of one's choice.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
