Ann Chadwick Baker Cashwell, 84, Snow Hill, peacefully passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Ann was born April 10, 1931, in Lenoir County to the late John Pearce Chadwick and Melba Louise Mewborn Chadwick. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hardy P. Baker and W.C. Cashwell.

A lady who strongly believed in the Lord and the Bible, Ann was a former member of Davis Grove Baptist Church, and after moving to LaGrange, she joined LaGrange First Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked as an LPN with Wayne Women's Clinic for 13 years.

One to give back to her community, she volunteered with Kitty Askins Hospice Center and Meals on Wheels in Wayne County.

Fiercely independent, Ann was organized, meticulous in everything and very outspoken if need be.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Snow Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Nalley and the Rev. Clyde Eure officiating.

Ann had a deep love for her family, and is lovingly survived by her daughter, Peggy B. Simmons and husband, Ray; stepson, Clifton Cashwell and wife, Linda; a godchild, Kate Leahy and husband, Sean, and their daughter, Maggie; special family friends who were thought of as family, Vikki and Donald Mercer; two grandchildren, Colie Cashwell of LaGrange and Melissa C. Jones and husband, Lee, of Greenville; three great-grandchildren, Luke, Cameron and Caroline; nieces and nephews, David Chadwick and wife, Susan, Teresa C. Severson and husband, Jerry, Penny C. Dawson and husband, Dickie, Cindy George and Lori Autry and husband, Reggie; along with a special cousin, Horace Mewborn.

Ann was also preceded in death by a brother, John Pearce Chadwick Jr.

Ann's family will receive friends at her home and immediately following the graveside committal service.

She will lie in state Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
