JOSEPHINE THOMPSON JOHNSON

Josephine Thompson Johnson, 87, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.
Josephine was born in Wayne County Feb. 28, 1928, to the late Leon Duvall Thompson and Ida Frances Blackman Thompson. She was married to the late Johnny Jacob Johnson.
Josephine had worked as an inspector with J.P. Stevens Co. in Goldsboro, and retired from Sunburst Foods.
She was the rock of her family; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew that she loved them with all her heart and truly was a blessing to them.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Josephine's life at 3 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Barry Williamson and the Rev. Johnny Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Barbara Johnson Barfield and husband, Al, of Goldsboro; son, Thomas Ray Johnson of Raleigh; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson Alves and husband, Jorge, Jeffrey Alton Barfield and wife, Victoria, and Brooke Ashley Barfield; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Jaxon Alves.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
