NORMAN R. SKELTON

Norman Ronald Skelton, 73, Goldsboro, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Norman was born in Tennyson, Ind., Dec. 24, 1941, to the late Norman Loren Skelton and Eloise Louise Dorsey Skelton.

He lived his dream, proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.

Norman will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence, his wonderful sense of humor and his patriotism.

He protected his country and her allies during the Vietnam War. Norman's valor and skill were recognized with numerous decorations.

Following his military career, Norman worked with the United States Postal Service and later retired.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being on the links sharing a game of golf with his friends.

Norman was a member of New Hope Friends Meeting.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Norman's life at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel, with Bill Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Leona Williams Skelton, and children, Laura Lukacs and husband, Bela, of Hesperia, Calif., Vickie Gurley and husband, Gary, of Rosewood, Delana Ansems and friend, Orin Harvey, of Goldsboro, Angie Wyche and husband, Rob, of Tallahassee, Fla., Pat Appel and husband, Butch, and Steve Koory and wife, Christina.

He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Marie Lukacs, and a sister, Glenda Sue Cook.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to New Hope Friends Life Center, 4451 U.S. 70 East, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
