LESTER MCKEEL

May 10, 1928-June 28, 2015

Lester McKeel, Pikeville, born May 10, 1928, to the late June McKeel and Betty Bradshaw McKeel, went to be with his Lord and savior Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Willow Creek Nursing Home surrounded by his family.

Lester was a retired farmer whose passion was farming the land and wood working.

As long as his health permitted, he was a faithful member of Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Lester was also a member of Faro Volunteer Fire Department, and always loved to watch a good game of baseball.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was loved by all his family. He will be truly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty Smith and friend, Norman Ivey, of Goldsboro, Diane Whitley and friend, Wayne Davis, of Pikeville and Sandra Ulrey and husband, Kevin, of Pikeville, and his son, Billy McKeel of Pikeville.

Lester is survived by his grandchildren, Angela Ritchie and husband, Randy, of Pikeville, Javita Henderson and husband, Ron, of Apex, Shannon Evans and husband, Jay, of Faro, Christopher Turnage and friend, Stacy, of Georgia and Miranda Mooring and husband, Darby, of Pikeville.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Damian Henderson, Whitley Henderson, Darius Henderson, Shiane Evans, Carli Rae Evans, Codey Pierce, Collin Beasley, Audawen Mooring and Christopher Turnage, and his sister-in-law, Virginia Hudson of Goldsboro.

In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lois Edmundson McKeel; his grandmother, Mattie Bradshaw, who raised him; and also his sisters and brothers.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Willow Creek Nursing Home, especially Mike.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the church.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made in his name to Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 3616 Big Daddy's Road, Fremont, N.C., 27830.
