Juliette "Judy" Elizabeth Farfour, 89, Goldsboro, passed to paradise Wednesday, June 24, 2015, after a short illness at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Monsignor John Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.

A lifelong resident of Goldsboro, Farfour was born May 15, 1926, to the late John Joseph Farfour and Georgina Yammine Farfour of Goldsboro.

She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Goldsboro High School.

During World War II, she served the fighting men of Goldsboro and Seymour Johnson Field as a USO volunteer.

Farfour was manager of My Shoppe in Goldsboro for many years.

In her family tradition, she was an early activist in economic development endeavors for merchants of Goldsboro and Wayne County.

She served more than 20 years with the United States Civil Service before retiring, holding positions with the IRS in Washington, D.C., and as the recreation center director at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. There she was honored multiple times as having the best recreation center in Tactical Air Command and the Air Force.

After retirement from Civil Service, she continued for many years to work for Per-Flo Tours as a tour guide.

She was an active lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she served on multiple committees and organizations, but she was most proud of being a part of the Ladies Guild.

She also was an award-winning bowler, and most enjoyed helping others.

She is survived by her sister, Sister Maryla "Rosette" Farfour, I.H.M., of Scranton, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by another sister, Mary Farfour Zahran and husband, Joseph Patrick Zahran, and their daughter, Charlene M. Zahran, and brothers, Zeke J. Farfour and George J. Farfour and his wife, Tempie B. Farfour.

Her nephews and niece include Joseph P. Zahran II, Jacob J. Zahran and wife, Sheila, Georgina "Gina" M. Zahran, John J. Farfour, Col. George R. Farfour and assistant fire chief James C. Farfour and wife, Lisa.

Her great-nieces and nephews include Jacob and Rachel Zahran, Alexandra and Caroline Farfour, Ashley and Brittany Hamilton, Alison, Ava and Alyssa Farfour and Ben and Peyton Farfour.

She also had one great-great-niece, Hayley James.

A Rosary will be held Friday, 26 June, 6 p.m., at Seymour Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the rosary from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
