MELISSA LYNN MCINTYRE

Sept. 15, 1964-April 21, 2015

Melissa Lynn Fleming McIntyre, Goldsboro, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, passed peacefully into that far better life with her Lord and savior and with beloved family who have gone on before. Her courage during this fight was typical of her strength of character, reflecting her loyalty and dedication to, and deep love for, her family and her zest and love of life.

Melissa was born in Wayne County Sept. 15, 1964, to Lois Herring Fleming of Pikeville and the late Howard Mahlon Fleming.

She will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother and a friend to all. She will also be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others.

Family was paramount to Melissa, and she loved nothing more than her husband and her boys.

A service celebrating Melissa's life will be held by the graveside Friday, April 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Pikeville Cemetery, with her cousin, the Rev. Don Fleming, officiating.

The family will greet friends Friday following the service at the cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Melissa is survived by her husband of 25 years, Mike McIntyre; sons, Scott McIntyre and Skyler McIntyre; sisters, Sandra Fleming Edmundson and husband, Todd, and Susan Fleming Tillman and husband, Tony, and son, Logan.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Peggy McIntyre; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eric and Roni McIntyre Burn and children, Lindsay and Laura, and Bobby and Yana McIntyre and children, Rachel and Logan, all of Charleston, S.C.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorials be given to Cures for the Colors, Southeastern Oncology Medical Center, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. James Atkins and the chemotherapy nurses at Southeastern Oncology Medical Center. Love and heartfelt thanks are expressed to each of you for the love you showed Melissa during her fight with cancer.
