Jackie Shoemaker, beloved wife, mother and sister, passed peacefully into the light Monday evening, April 20, 2015.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dean; sons, Barry and Randy; and daughter, Renae.
Jackie was very active in the community of Goldsboro, and was known for her work as director of Wayne County Group Homes for the mentally disabled. She was very much a beloved part of this organization, implementing many changes, and became known as a force of nature for good organization.
Having moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina 13 years ago, she remained an advocate for those less fortunate, including abused and abandoned animals.
Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts and minds as the beautiful, brilliant, courageous and loving woman that she was.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Friday, April 24, 2015, at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2802 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, N.C., 28806.
