Bennie Ray Toms, 74, Goldsboro, died Monday.

Bennie was born in Bedford, Va., June 22, 1940. He was the son of the late Oliver A. Toms and Clara Wood Toms.

He was a retired master sergeant with the United States Air Force.

Bennie was also retired from Carolina Power and Light Co.

He was a member of Goldsboro Elks Lodge No. 139 B.P.O.E and Bedford Moose Lodge No. 1897.

Bennie was also a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate Bennie's life will be at 5 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church with military honors. The Rev. Robert Bandy will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Bennie is survived by his wife, Ginny Faulkner Toms; daughter, Robin Pardee and husband, Chuck, of Williamsburg, Va.; his son, Shane Toms and wife, Heidi, of Florence, S.C.; sister, Barbara Foster of Rustburg, Va.; and his brothers, Carlton Toms and wife, Rachel, of Bedford, Va., and Daniel Toms and wife, Vickie, of Bedford, Va.

His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Kylie Toms, Ella Toms, Makenna Pardee, Lauryn Pardee and Kyndal Pardee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Dubuque and Yvonne Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2803 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 75817, Topeka, Kan., 66675.
