Garland Jackson Ginn, 85, Pikeville, passed away on Sunday at Sutton Retirement Home.

Garland was born in Wayne County on Aug. 24, 1929, to the late George Roy Ginn and Bertha Brown Ginn.

Garland proudly served his country in the United States Army.

After service, he farmed for 15 years.

He retired from Hevi-Duty after 27 years of service.

A service celebrating Garland's life will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Huffman officiating.

Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Patetown Cemetery.

Garland is survived by his wife of 64 years, Iris Lucille Tingen Ginn; son, Donnie Ginn and wife, Pam, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Miranda Rackley and husband, Scott, of Goldsboro, and Carey Hinnant and husband, Alan, of Pikeville; and three great-grandchildren, Jack Rackley, Cameron Rackley and Cooper Hinnant.

He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Herring, Clara Edmundson and husband, Roscoe, and Carolyn Webb and husband, Frank, all of Pikeville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Sasser, and brother, Milford Ginn.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donnie and Pam Ginn, 950 Bartlett Road, Pikeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piper's Promise or Saulston Youth Program, Saulston United Methodist Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
