Robert Lee Swisher Sr., 78, died Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial
Hospital.

Born in Davie County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Allie Louise Richardson Swisher, was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Swisher, and was the husband of Ethelene Carter Swisher.

Robert retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, and was an electronics technician.

He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Adamsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clifford Britton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two sons, Robert L. Swisher Jr. and wife, Karen, of Fremont and David Swisher of Snow Hill; two daughters, Mary Margaret and husband, Gary Donoho, of Snow Hill and Susan and husband, Dean Tindal, of Longwood; and a granddaughter Pamela Lynne Swisher of Fremont.

Other family members include his stepdaughters and spouses, Sharon and Gerald Wainwright of Greenville and Deborah and Michael Williams of Fuquay-Varina.
