DAVID LEE OVERTON

April 4, 1931-April 7, 2015

David Lee Overton Sr., 84, Mount Olive, N.C., died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

David was the son of the late Willie Roy and Nora K. Overton.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Junius, Bobby and Billy, and sisters, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Brookie and Louise.

A loving husband and father, David is survived by his wife, Elaine, and children, David Overton (Colleen), Kathy Smith (Danny), Ronald Overton, Kenny Edwards and Rachel Meier (John).

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy.

David was a United States Army veteran, who was very proud of his service to our country.

He and his wife, Elaine, owned and operated Overton's Jewelers located in Jacksonville, N.C., for 27 years before retiring.

He was a member of Lafayette Lodge No. 83 in Jacksonville, N.C.

David enjoyed being outdoors, and loved working around his house and in his yard. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall's Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with visitation to follow. Committal services will be held Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Onslow Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel in Jacksonville.
