Willie Ray Butts, 67, Seven Springs, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his home.

Willie was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Lenoir County to the late Willie Arthur Butts and Lena Potter Butts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Paulette Butts, and his brother, Jimmy Butts.

Willie proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Willie worked for 45 years moving mobile homes, serving Wayne and surrounding counties.

He had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious laugh, and enjoyed telling a good joke. Outgoing by nature, Willie never met a stranger.

He enjoyed deer hunting, his collection of guns, fishing and going to the Elm City races.

Willie loved pleasing others, and his grandchildren were the apples of his eye.

A service celebrating Willie's life will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating. Interment will follow at Cobb Cemetery.

Willie is survived by his wife of 13 years, Gail Mosley Butts; sons, Willie Hugh Butts and fianceé, Cathy Dawson, and Travis Ray Butts; granddaughters, MacKenzie Paige Butts, Haylee Abigail Butts and Alena Caroline Butts; brother, Ronnell Arthur Butts and wife, Debra; and a dear longtime friend, Tony Lewis Lane.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
