Chris Thigpen, 37, of Asheville, formerly of Goldsboro, died Tuesday at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Chris was the son of John E. and Faye Lane Thigpen of Goldsboro.
He was a graduate of Rosewood High School and received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
He was an organic farmer in Buncombe County.
Chris was a traveler and never met a stranger; he loved to talk with everyone he met and was always willing to give a helping hand.
Chris had a deep love for his family and friends.
A private funeral was held at Wayne Memorial Park, Dudley, N.C., on Saturday.
