BRUCE T. "NIG" WEBB

Died March 18, 2015

Surrounded by his loving family and friends, Bruce Thomas "Nig" Webb, 77, of the Holdens Cross Road community, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Owens Chapel FWB Church.

Interment will be in Macclesfield Cemetery.

The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Nig was a devoted husband, daddy and papa.

He loved his family and taught his children and grandchildren many things that they will forever carry with them, and left his family and friends with many wonderful memories. He loved to keep in touch with his friends in the community and his church and would often call them or just stop by when he got the chance from his busy farming schedule.

Nig loved the Lord with all his heart.

He loved his church and his church family.

He was a faithful, dedicated servant of the Lord and served as a deacon for 40 years at Owens Chapel Free Will Baptist church.

He was a third generation farmer and farmed for 59 years.

Nig was meticulous about the land he farmed and the equipment he maintained.

He especially enjoyed tobacco farming and cured many barns of tobacco in his lifetime.

Nig embraced many changes during his farming career and enjoyed working side by side with his son, Ricky, and grandson, Thomas.

Every Saturday night, Nig could be found at Parkers BBQ.

He loved the atmosphere, the food (especially the fried oysters) and the friends and family that shared the meal with him.

During the week, Nig was often at Bridgersville Grill where he gathered with farmers and friends to eat lunch, talk farming, the weather or just enjoy conversation about everyday life.

Nig was a sweet, kind and gentle man, loved by all that knew him.

He will be missed, but will also be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Sylvia Baker Webb, in August 2013; his parents, Thomas Richard and Thelma Robbins Webb; and sister, Jenny Johnson.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin Brown (Mike) of Wilson; sons, Ricky Webb (Sue) of Stantonsburg and Marshall Webb of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Thomas, Leigh and Josh Webb and Rachel and Meredith Brown; sisters, Peggy Ellis and Joann Hathaway of Macclesfield.

Flowers are welcome or memorials can be made to Owens Chapel Church, 6204 Webb Lake Road, Elm City, N.C. 27822.
