VERNE THOMPSON

Verne Thompson, 73, died March 12 at his home near Morehead City.
Verne, the son of the late James Monroe and Sue Hanner Thompson of Seven Springs, N.C., graduated B.F. Grady High School, and worked for the state of North Carolina in Raleigh.
He retired to Broad Creek, where he and Frances were able to enjoy his last weeks at his Crik House on Broad Creek.
Verne is survived by cousins Frances Ward Black Holland, R.D. Stroud, Jack Ward, Janet Ward Black, Bill Bollmer, Pam Beaver, Emory Sadler and John Hanner.
He leaves behind his last, best love, Frances Dreps; her sons, Chris and Matt, and families, Kurt and Irene Becker, Jesus Ramierez and family, Juli Cosgrove, Bob Cavanaugh and Carolyn Elliot.
Verne especially enjoyed his friends in the Crystal Coast Tea Party Patriots, where he served as webmaster extraordinaire.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. March 21 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, and interment of his ashes will be at a later date.
