Myrtle Reeves Long, 87, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday Feb. 22, 2015, while surrounded by her beloved family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, with the Rev. James Harry and the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Wayne Memorial Park.

Myrtle was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Guild, Tenn., one of five children born to James Ralph Reeves and Sadie Morgan Reeves.

She graduated from Marion County High School in 1945, where she met and later married Willis Herbert Long. Myrtle and Willis were married Aug. 31, 1946, following Willis' return home from United States Navy service in World War II.

She was a lady of strong convictions and faith. Her love of God, family, church and friends was steadfast.

Myrtle was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was an active woman of her beloved St. Paul United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, Unity Circle, J. Paul Edwards Sunday School Class and 60 Uppers, and served on alter guild for many years.

In 1976 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y., she was honored with life membership in the United Methodist Women Organization.

Myrtle was a volunteer in the ICU department of Wayne Memorial Hospital for 22 years.

In addition to her husband of 68 years, Myrtle is survived by her children, Gary Long (Karen) of Allen, Texas, Dr. Ronald Morgan Long (Mary) of Goldsboro, Patricia Long Allen (Tom) of Wake Forest, N.C., and Craig Maloy Long (Toni) of Lantana, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Long Cox (Jessie), Jessica Long Kimbrell (Chris), Thomas Allen, Jackson Allen, Jordan Allen, Morgan Long and Sarah Long; and great-grandchildren, Samuel Cox and Lily Grace Kimbrell.

Also surviving are her brother, James Ralph Reeves (Peggy) of Manchester, Tenn., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters.
