RUTH JERNIGAN

Ruth Jernigan, 82, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Sam A. Jernigan Sr. and Bessie Williams Jernigan.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn J. Pickett and Blanche J. Perkinson and a sister-in-law, Marie Jernigan.
She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and a former teacher.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert Fulkerson officiating.
Family members will greet friends following the service, and a committal service will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Ruth is survived by her brothers, Sam Jernigan Jr. and Edward W. (Margaret) Jernigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
