MOUNT OLIVE -- Rebecca Parker Troutman, a lifelong resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A private Interment will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15, at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley, after which a service of remembrance will be held at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m., with a time to visit with family and friends immediately following. The Rev. Steven Wicks will officiate.
Mrs. Troutman, widow of Loy Sigmon Troutman, was retired with Wayne County Public Schools. She was a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca T. Ducote and husband, Dennis, of Georgia; two sons, William "Bill" Troutman and wife, Sharyon, of Newport, and Robert "Bob" Troutman and wife, Carole, of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Michelle Walker and husband, Jim, Michael Troutman and wife, Amanda, Meredith Stealey and husband, Bill, Emily Troutman, Jonathan Ducote, Allison Ducote and Kristen Ducote; seven great-great-grandchildren, Loy Seth Walker, Leigh Parker Stealey, Caroline Windsor Stealey, William Harrison Troutman II and Jenna Elizabeth Troutman.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Walter Parker and Minnie Flowers Parker and her siblings, Mamie Sellars, Cleon Herring, Katherine Bingham and Merle Coker.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the care given to their mother during her stay at the Sterling House in Goldsboro, and to the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be presented to Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 158, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365, or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534. Arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Home.
