ERNEST "RED" JONES

Mr. Ernest "Red" Jones, 93, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Red," 110 Elmore St., Mount Olive, N.C., departed his earthly life Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, N.C.
Ernest was born in Duplin County Nov. 15, 1921. He was born to the late Mrs. Hermie Davis Jones and the Mr. Aubrey Jones Sr.
He received his education in the public school system of Duplin County.
Ernest served his country by enlisting into the United States Army. After his military tours of duty, "Red" received his honorable discharge.
After returning to civilian life, Brother "Red" was a share cropper for many years, and later went to work for Mt. Olive Pickle Co. as a machine operator for a number of years.
He was a member of Northeast Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Olive, N.C.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Northeast Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 800 E. James St., Mount Olive, N.C. Apostle Norbert Simmons will officiate.
Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
Brother "Red" leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his wife, Mrs. Ruthie Hill Jones of the home; his children, Betty "Polly" (Paul) Brock, Lynda Jones, Ernest Jr. "Dick" (Cathy) Jones, Brenda (Tracey) Croom, Leora "Sam" Jones and Lorne "Tank" Jones; 10 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Lena Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. at the residence of Mrs. Ruthie Jones, 110 Elmore St., Mount Olive, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
