EARL ALVESTER RODGERS

Brother Earl Alvester Rodgers, 88, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Dad," 509 King Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., he departed his earthly life Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, N.C.

Earl was born in Wayne County May 13, 1926. He was born to the late Mrs. Adalia Best Rodgers and Mr. Charlie Rodgers.

He received his education in the public school system of Wayne County.

Brother Rodgers retired from Kemp Furniture Co. with more than 48 years of service.

Also, he was a lifelong member of Atkinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Goldsboro, N.C.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Atkinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 634 S. Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Charles Franklin will officiate.

Interment will follow in Atkinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 634 S. Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.

Brother Rodgers leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his two daughters, Sandra Rodgers and Shirley Rodgers; his three sons, Wilbert Braswell, Earl Rodgers Jr. (Antoinete) and Hakeem Muhammad; his eight grandchildren; his 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. at the Rodgers' residence, 509 King Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
