Lorice Fields McMillan, 92, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Lorice was born in Wayne County Sept. 20, 1922, to the late Leonard I. Fields and Sudie Westbrook Fields. She was married to the late Henry C. McMillan Jr.

Lorice was a longtime member of First Christian Church, where she had served many years as secretary for the church board.

She was a charter member of the American Business Woman Association, and in 1993, was awarded Woman of the Year.

Lorice lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community. She served her community many ways by volunteering for the American Red Cross at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

In 1994, Lorice received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her faithful service at the hospital.

A service remembering the life of Lorice will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke and the Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Lorice is survived by her daughter, Gail Askins and husband, Richard, of Goldsboro; son, Henry C. "Cleve" McMillan III and wife, Kathy, of Manahawkin, N.J.; her grandchildren, Shannon M. Isek, Jessica McMillan, Jamie Askins, Jason Askins, Samantha Van Sant and Lindsay Seslar; nine great-grandchildren; and Lynn and Carson Carpenter.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eloise Epps, Hazel Lashley and Katie Sauls.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to First Christian Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
