MARY ANN JEFFREYS MAXWELL

Mary Ann Jeffreys Maxwell died Thursday morning, Aug. 21, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Wayne County March 5, 1929, to the late James Talbot Jeffreys and Gay Pugh Jeffreys.
Mary Ann attended Stratford College, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, James Louis Maxwell Jr.
She is also survived by four children and their children, daughter, Mary Ann Maxwell, daughter, Charlotte Maxwell Weaver and husband, Harroll Hudson Weaver, and children, Maxwell Jeffreys Weaver, James Harroll Weaver, David Hudson Weaver and wife, Tracey Harrell Weaver, and their children, David Hudson Weaver Jr. and Leslie Forbes Weaver, and Kathryn Weaver Sumrell and husband, Stephen Cale Sumrell, and their children, Weaver Davenport Sumrell and Isabelle Kathryn Sumrell, daughter, Elizabeth Maxwell Yarboro and husband, Thomas Richard Yarboro, and their children, Thomas Richard Yarboro Jr., Virginia Marshall Yarboro, Eleanor Maxwell Yarboro and Charlotte Ruth Yarboro, son, James Louis Maxwell III and wife, Gina Comer Maxwell, and their children, Lily Page Maxwell and James Louis Maxwell IV.
Mrs. Maxwell is also survived by a sister, Sara Jeffreys Gilliam, and a brother, James Talbot Jeffreys Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Pugh Jeffreys, Elizabeth Jeffreys Hubard and Irene Jeffreys Cornwell.
Services for Mrs. Maxwell will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to honor Mrs. Maxwell be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 200 N. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; the University of North Carolina Memory Disorders Program, c/o Medical Foundation of North Carolina, 880 MLK Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill, N.C., 27514; or Home Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at her home, 711 Lake Shore Drive, Goldsboro.
