Mrs. Laura Hunter Weeks departed this life early Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, while at home and with loved ones surrounding her.

This 90-year-old lady was a longtime resident of Thunder Swamp area near Mount Olive.

She was a faithful member of Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church and its Women's Ministries.

A homemaker and farmer's wife, who went about doing good in her daily living, she demonstrated an unconditional kind of love toward her family and fellow man.

Services to remember the kind and gracious lady that she was will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Smith, the Rev. J. Frederick Dixon and the Rev. Vance Harrell officiating, and with visitation immediately following. Burial will be Friday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Friends and family are welcome to call at her residence.

A loving family survives Mrs. Weeks, which includes two sons, James Ray Weeks of Mount Olive and William Hunter Weeks and his wife, Peggy Taylor Weeks, of Mount Olive; another daughter-in-law, Marilyn Weeks of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Terry Wayne Weeks and wife, Trudy, of Wilson, Charla W. Jones and husband, Curtis, Tracy W. Jones, Neil Weeks and wife, Melinda, all of Mount Olive, Kim Weeks of Jacksonville and Mark Smith and wife, Kathy, and Scott Smith and wife, Kimberly, all of Mount Olive; 12 great-grandchildren, Matt Jarman and wife, Amanda, Alanna Jones, Hunter Jones, Mary Taylor Jones, Tori Brooke Jones, Toby Weeks, Thatcher Weeks, Rocket Laura Eaton, Austin Smith, Cody Smith, Allie Smith and Annalee Smith; two great-great-grandchildren, Raelynn Jarman and Patrick Clutterbuck; a brother-in-law, Dick Straughan and wife, Ava, of Richlands; a sister-in-law, Lois Horton of Raleigh; her best friend of 73 years, Mabel P. Sutton of Mount Olive; and a friend and helper of many years, Alma Darden of Mount Olive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman "Toby" Weeks; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Truman and Peggy Price Weeks; her parents, William D. and Louise Miller Hunter; a sister, Sara Straughan; a brother, Billy Hunter; and a sister-in-law, Esther Boyette.

The Weeks family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jason Boyd and the Southeastern Cancer Center staff for the splendid care and support received from them. The family also wishes to acknowledge the faithfulness of some of its own in providing exemplary care, James Ray Weeks, Tracy Jones and Melinda Weeks, which no doubt enhanced Mrs. Weeks' last days.
