LILLIAN SELLARS SMITH
Died July 24, 2014
Lillian Sellars Smith, 87, of Pikeville, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 28, 2014, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be in Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Greene County to the late James and Verna Wood Sellars. She was married for 66 years to the late Ronald David Smith Sr.
Mrs. Smith was a loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
She lived in the Faro community for many years, and had worked at Faro Milling Co. Mrs. Smith had also worked at Sallie's Bridal and Formal Shop in Goldsboro.
Along with her husband, she enjoyed working as a vendor for many years at the Wilson Flea Market.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Ronald Smith Jr. of Swansboro and Kenneth D. Smith and wife, Dottie, of Kennewick, Wash.; her daughter, Sylvia Smith Madison and husband, John, of Wendell; her grandson, David Smith-Tilley and wife, Megan; and her great-grandchildren, Southern, Chace and Rivers.
She is also survived by her brother, David Sellars of Ayden; sister, Mildred Harris of Sunset Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, baby girl Smith, and sisters, Helen Speight, Elizabeth Sellars and Louise Stocks.
We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care they provided for Lillian during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.
Also a thank you to the caregivers at Somerset Court in Goldsboro, who cared for Lillian over these past years.
