Donnie Ray Aldridge, 55, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Donnie was born in Wayne County on Nov. 5, 1958, to the late Fred Alton and Elizabeth Betty Mitchell Aldridge.
He attended First Assembly Church in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Patetown Cemetery.
Donnie is survived by his son, Corey Aldridge West and wife, Crystal, of Dudley; sisters, Nancy Mitchell of Goldsboro, Ava Louise Hinson of Dudley, Janie Ruth Aldridge Head of Dudley and Mary Elizabeth Vanidestine of Goldsboro; brothers, Joseph Fred Aldridge of Goldsboro, William Merl Aldridge of Dudley and Jesse Ray Aldridge of Grantham; two granddaughters, Breanna Michele West and Cheyenne Brittany West; special friends, Robin West, Dwight and Norma Strickland, Jeff Davis, Ralph Roberson and pastor James Herring and wife, Doris; special nephews, Marvin Ray Aldridge and Thomas Ray Hinson; special niece, Maria Hinson; and special uncle and aunt, Jack and Lillie Harper.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Andera at Genesis Health Care and the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and compassion that was shown to Donnie and his family during his time of sickness. The family would also like to offer a special thank you to the Lancaster family for their acts of kindness. The family would also like to thank Emory Walker for helping to minister to Donnie and helping him see the Lord in such a special way.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 21, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
