CAROLYN B. HARRIS

Retired teacher Carolyn Brady Harris, Goldsboro, formerly of Huffman, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. She went peacefully at home as was her wish.
Formerly a teacher in Raleigh, she returned to Wayne County in 1969, and taught music until her retirement. She was greatly loved by her many students.
Carolyn loved animals, music, good books and gardening.
She taught us to appreciate the smallest joys in life. And she loved to talk to people. She was smart, talented and strong, and will be missed.
Preceded in death by her son, Charles "Chuck" Huffman Jr., she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Huffman Smith; her grandchildren, Thomas and Hannah Smith Grant; great-granddaughter, Sophia Lynne Smith; sister-in-law and best friend, Donna Brady; niece and nephew, Frances and Jason Brady; and, of course, her cats and her dog, Linus.
At her request, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the National Humane Society.
