LYNDA CAROL HOWELL MEDLIN

Lynda Carol Howell Medlin went to be with her Lord and savior Friday, June 27, 2014, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

At her request, a celebration of life service will be held Monday evening, June 30, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, where she served as secretary for more than 16 years.

Visitation will follow the service.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.

Lynda was born in Wayne County Nov. 25, 1943, to the late John Tom Howell and her mother, Fannie Woodle Howell, who also worked for Shackleford Funeral Service.

Lynda was a member of Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka.

During her employment at the funeral home, she was a great blessing to many families for her loving care, compassion and forever smile.

She will be deeply missed in the Fremont and surrounding communities.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. James "Jim" Medlin; three sons, William Crawford and wife, Susan, of Selma, John Crawford and wife, Stephanie, of Kenly and Scott Ivey and wife, Patty, of Fremont; two daughters, Lisa Moore and husband, Luke, of Tennessee and Amy Coley and husband, James, of Wilmington; three stepchildren, Jeff Ivey and wife, Beth, of Williamston, Stevie Ivey and wife, Melanie, of Goldsboro and Kimberly Sugg and husband, Jeff, of Snow Hill; a brother, Tommy Howell of Pikeville; two sisters, Bonnie Von Holten and husband, Leon, of Missouri and Patricia Borchert and husband, Jerry, of Illinois; 17 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, extended friends and church family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William D. Crawford and Major S. Ivey, and a sister, Janet Ward.

Viewing will begin Monday at noon at the funeral home.

Lynda and the family are in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St., in Fremont.
