Anna Jewel Rakestraw Barnes, 61 of Black Creek passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Black Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and welcomed at the home of her son, John.
Anna Jewel was a very loving Mother, "Nani," daughter and sister. She was a great and thoughtful friend to all that loved her. Anna very much enjoyed playing pool on the APA league for the past 15 years. For the past five years her entire world revolved around her three grandbabies. She will be greatly missed by us all.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Brandi Barnes Christie and husband, Tim of Goldsboro; her son, John Barnes, and Caroline of Lucama; her grandchildren, Cooper Christie, Creek Barnes and Ty Barnes; her mother, Anna Mae Rakestraw of Black Creek; her sisters, Becky Brock and husband, Lee of Bailey, Pat Cooke and husband, Johnny of Lucama and Jackie Boone and husband, Patrick of Bailey and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. C.A. Thompson, 1207 Peachtree Road, Wilson, N.C. 27896.
