Robert Jackson Howell Jr., 69, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston.

Robert was born in Wayne County May 30, 1945, to Thelma Cotton Howell of Goldsboro and the late Robert Jackson Howell Sr.

For 33 years, he owned and operated Howell's Septic Tank Service in Goldsboro.

Robert attended Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Robert's passion was eating out with his family, but he also enjoyed fishing and boating, as well as looking at cars and trucks. He was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life, he lived to work. He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Robert's life at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

In addition to his mother, Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Sasser Howell; sons, Brian Howell and wife, Majena, of Goldsboro and Eric Howell and wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro; and four grandchildren, Cody Howell, Courtney Howell, Taylor Howell and Walker Howell.
