Jencie Whaley Howell, 77, Pikeville, went to be with her Lord and savior Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Brian Center surrounded by her family.

Jencie was born in Wilson County Feb. 15, 1937, to the late Wilbur L. Whaley and Fannie Barnes Whaley.

She had been an active member of Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church and Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she enjoyed ministering at both churches as the pianist.

Jencie will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother, and a friend to all. So too, will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others.

Family was paramount to Jencie, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children and grandchildren. She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our savior, Christ Jesus.

A service celebrating Jencie's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry House and the Rev. Tim Creel officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at P.D. Howell Family Cemetery.

Jencie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carey Elwood Howell; daughter, Pam Head and husband, Johnny, of Pikeville; sons, Clellan Howell of Fremont, Ronnie Howell and wife, JoAnn, of Goldsboro and Jamie Howell and wife, Niki, of Pikeville; sister, Judy George and husband, David, of Pikeville; brother, Kenneth Whaley and wife, Edna, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jeffrey Head and wife, Dana, Jennifer Head Hines and husband, Brogden, Crystal Howell, Keely-Dan Howell and Luke Howell; and great-grandchildren, Lyla Howell, Danton Head and Paislee Head.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George Whaley and Vonnie Whaley.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Johnny and Pam Head, 791 Perkins Road, Pikeville.
