MARVIN REED "DOOGIE" JOHNSON

Marvin Reed "Doogie" Johnson, 52, passed away suddenly Friday, May 23, 2014, at his home.

Doogie was born in Wayne County Aug. 30, 1961, to the late Glenwood Preston Johnson and Elizabeth Reed Johnson.

He was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and from Buncombe Culinary School in Asheville.

Doogie was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

A service celebrating Doogie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jill Beimdiek officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Doogie is survived by his sister, Elizabeth J. Hulse of Goldsboro; brother, Glenwood P. Johnson Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; nieces, Ann Reed and Alex Hulse; and nephew, Trey Hulse.

He is also survived by several aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 200 N. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or St. Francis Episcopal Church, 503 Forest Hill Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
