ADDISON "CANDY" PEELE

Sept. 20, 1921-March 28, 2014

Addison "Candy" Peele, 92, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Candy was born in Wayne County, N.C., Sept. 20, 1921, to the late Frank Peele and Nina Smith Peele.

He was an Army-Air Force veteran, having served his country in World War II.

Candy was a farmer and a newspaper carrier with the Wilson Daily Times for 22 years.

He served for 10 years on the town board of Black Creek.

Candy will forever be remembered for his love of the game of baseball, and was an avid Tar Heel fan.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim McFatter and Jimmy Aycock officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peele Family Cemetery.

Candy is survived by his nieces, Hester Corbett and husband, Gene, Jo Fail and husband, Ralph, Rachel Fields and Peggy Walston; his nephew, Elwood Peele and wife, Ingrid; great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend and roommate, Max Waddell, at Woodard's Care.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and his nephew, Franklin Peele.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorials be made to the Fremont Historical Society, P.O. Box 222, Fremont, N.C., 27830.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
