HOWARD 'JACK' JACKSON

March 15, 1929-March 5, 2014

Howard William "Jack" Jackson Jr., lifelong Mount Olive resident, died Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was 84.

Funeral services will be held by the graveside at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Jimmy Millard and the Rev. David Millard III.

The family will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home from 1 to 2:30 p.m. preceding the service.

At other times, friends may call at the residence.

Son of the late Howard William Jackson and Mildred Brock Jackson Daniel, he was a retired self-employed painter and carpenter. His last tenure of employment was in the maintenance department at Mount Olive College.

He was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lovey Hinson Jackson of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Rachel Daniel of Wilmington; a sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Herbert Reaves of Rocky Point; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Stephanie Reynolds of Florida, and a special nephew, Joe Millard of Mount Olive; many dear and special friends; a brother-in-law, Joe Hinson and wife, Pat, of Cheney, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Faye Fore of Fern Park, Fla.

Mrs. Jackson wishes to express a sincere thanks to the staff of Kitty Askins, 3-HC Hospice, Dr. Atkins and SMOC staff for their support, care and concern. Also, a special note of gratitude is extended to Kaye Millard, Judy King, Barry Gavette and Terri and David Owens for their kind assistance in recent months as Mr. Jack's health rapidly declined.
