GLENWOOD PRESTON JOHNSON

Glenwood Preston Johnson, 91, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh surrounded by his family.
Mr. Johnson was born in Wayne County April 19, 1922, to the late Louis Preston Johnson and Vivie McClenney Johnson.
He was married to the late Elizabeth Reed Johnson, and had retired from sales with Giant Portland Cement Co.
Mr. Johnson served as a private first class in the United States Marine Corps during the World War II, and was a graduate of North Carolina State University.
He was a founding member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Goldsboro and St. Francis By the Sea in Pine Knoll Shores.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Doug Coulton presiding. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth J. Hulse of Goldsboro; sons, Glenwood P. Johnson Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Marvin Reed Johnson of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Trey Hulse, Alex Hulse and Ann Reed Hulse; three sisters, Ann Hammond, Vivie Wiggins and Gloria Fletcher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bruce Hulse; sister, Noreen Clement; and a longtime companion, Ora Mae Hardison.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Elizabeth J. Hulse, 113 Overbrook Road in Goldsboro.
