Died Feb. 8, 2014

MOUNT OLIVE -- Lois Ardetha Whitfield Pitts, Rones Chapel community, passed away Saturday night, Feb. 8, 2014, at Vidant Duplin Hospital.

Her life will be remembered in a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Justice and the Rev. Lamarr Jackson, followed by visitation. Burial will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends and relatives are also welcome at the residence.

In her earlier years, she had been an office clerk, but her mainstay was that of being a wife, mother, "other mama" and "executive" homemaker.

In her latter years, she provided companionship and caregiving services to several elderly individuals.

She worshipped at Brock's Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Fannie Bell Whitfield; a sister, Charlotte W. Sykes; and son-in-law, Charlie Pizzino.

She is survived by her husband, Larry R. Pitts of the home; daughter, Sandra Pizzino of Mount Olive; granddaughter, Sunshine Hicks Leary of Mount Olive; great-granddaughter, Lola Joleigh Hart of Mount Olive; stepchildren, Larry R. Pitts Jr. and Lisa Ann Setchell both of Richmond, Va.; four stepgrandchildren; dear friends, Norma Jean Walston of Calypso and Minnie Pearl Wilkins of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.
