Died Dec. 29, 2013

DUDLEY -- Lonnie Dale Stanley, Dudley, was called to his heavenly home Sunday, Dec. 29, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Dean Stanley and Jewel Verna Welty Stanley of Blanket, Texas.

A beloved husband of Lorene Mitchell Stanley of 30 years, Lonnie Dale enjoyed whittling model airplanes, photographing family memories, picking the guitar, tinkering and gardening.

He also loved visiting with church family and friends, sharing his faith in the Lord Jesus with all who would listen and telling jokes and stories to his grandbabies.

Upon graduation from Blanket High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years.

Lonnie Dale served as a deacon, dedicated Sunday school teacher and choir member at First Baptist Church of Texas.

A cherished member of his community, he currently served in ministries as a member at Love Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Lorene, he is survived by his daughter, Sheila and Kelvin Gurley of Grantham; stepson, Dwight Sutton and Rita Cotton of Maysville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Also, his sisters, Betty Rountree of Goldthwaite, Texas, and Nettie Tatum of Houston, Texas, and brothers, Billie Stanley of Odessa, Texas, and Chester Stanley of Goldthwaite, Texas.

A time of celebration and sharing will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church, 192 Woodland Church Road, Goldsboro.

Family will receive friends following the service.

To honor our sweet Texas boy, feel free to attend comfortably in jeans.
