ROBIN LEAR PEACOCK

RALEIGH -- Robin Lear Peacock died Dec. 11, 2013, at home in Raleigh, N.C.
Born Aug. 1, 1927, she was a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., the daughter of the late Joseph Merritt and Rachel Robinson Lear.
She had resided in Raleigh since 1972.
She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, receiving a bachelor's degree in zoology in 1947 and a master's degree in social work in 1972.
In addition to her involvement in many volunteer activities throughout her adult life, she was employed for 28 years as a social worker, first with the Wayne County (North Carolina) Department of Social Services and later with the North Carolina Division of Social Services, where she was supervisor of adoptions until her retirement in 1992.
Survivors include her five children, Anna Christy Peacock of Lawrenceville, N.J., sons, Robert Howell Peacock IV of New York City, N.Y., John Merritt Lear Peacock and Ellen Shipman of Goldsboro, N.C., William Ellery Peacock and wife, Gregory Tyler of Raleigh, N.C., and Sarah Stansbury Peacock and husband, Thomas Clay, of Cohasset, Mass.; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; three stepgrandchldren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Old Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lear Plot, Section IV-R19, at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013.
A memorial celebration will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1520 Canterbury Road, Raleigh, at 2 p.m. Dec. 16, 2013.
Following the service, the family will greet friends at St. Michael's Parish Hall.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Walker Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, N.C., 27516.
