WILLIAM THOMAS AYCOCK

William Thomas Aycock died peacefully at home Nov. 2, 2013.

He was born Sept. 1, 1934, to the late Thomas and Lala Edwards Aycock in Johnston County.

He married Edna Earl Baker Nov. 2, 1952, and was a tile mason by trade. He was proud of all the work he had done throughout the country, but was proudest of laying the tarrazzo in the state seal at the North Carolina Legislature Building in Raleigh.

Mr. Aycock was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Aycock; a grandson, William Thomas "Tommy" Dixon; and sisters, Agnes Batten and Pearl Wells.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Aycock Cemetery, with elder Harold Pittman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Surviving are his daughter, Teresia Hill and Bill of Blounts Creek, N.C.; son, Ricky Aycock and Lisa of Selma; grandchildren, Malton Aycock and Angela Carroll of Selma, Sarah Carl and Stephen of Clayton, Austin Gray and Alex Gray of Selma and Melissa Huechteman and Brett of Springfield, Mo.

He had five great-grandchildren, Callie Carl, Abigail Carl, Willow Aycock, Allie Huechteman and Reese Huechteman, and sisters, Blanche House of Selma, Mary Ellis of Pine Level, Edith Pittman of Kenly, Marjorie Daughtry of Princeton and Harlene Sasser of Pikeville.

Flowers are welcome, but memorials can be made to Micro Fire Department.
